Looking good?

I love the Williams sisters. I know they get a lot of stick for the way they look. They are not everybodies idea of beauty (dont get me started on this) I think they are both beautiful women- I would kill for a full voluptous figure like Serena's! Having said that They do (in my humble opinion) sometimes wear the wrong clothes. Its like when you are young and you want to wear the same clothes as your friend- but you are completly diffferent shapes! I see it all the time. Nobody wants to be the fat/awkward friend.  They -especially Serena- are not pencil thin holywood types, and should not dress as such. I would love to see their natural hair. Remember when they first came out- cornrows and beads everywhere!! They would be leading the way. I simply dont know why they bother with some of those weaves!!

I know it is not sounding like I love them- but I really do. They are brilliant business women who conduct themselves well at all times. And did someone mention tennis. Its funny to watch the last few Grand Slams. They are simply dull without them.

I hope to see them continue to do well when they retire.......

Random: The 80's

Since my wonderful husband bought me the New Blackberry Torch (mine is Red which is gangsta as there are not many over here) I have been on the BBM thing HARD.  I find that I am changing my status daily (some are doing it hourly so I consider myself a moderate!) this week for whatever reason I have been reminising about the 80's. Looking back the 80s were fantastic. I suppose we all really appreciate the decade of our childhood- especially when all the iussues that adulthood brings kick in. I am remebering 80's toys and tv programmes. One of my friends chimed in and went waaaay back bringing back some serious memories (lol- thanks Myo) Here are a few of them.

I always wanted a Speak and Spell, but my mum bought me a Speak and maths instead as my Maths were in need of some assisstance (lol) I was gutted and hated it. They have nothing like that now........*sigh*

I had one of these! The View-Master. They still sell these!

To this day I have never mastered the Rubiks cube.....stupid toy!

I  never had one of these- but I wanted one.

Now when I saw these I chuckled. I looooooooved these. I remember swapping these with friends in primary school. You also got a chewing gum in the packet.... perfection!

Now for TV

Look how easily we were amused! baked Beans tin and a few bits of wood. Simples!

My idea of paradise..

For now just a pic, I may develop this a little further in the future. I am a sucker for a beach, white sands and beautiful seas. My Hubby and I are doing a carribean cruise next year for our 20th anniversary- I am soooooooo looking forward to that. When I am on my Island I would like to be surrounded by my people. When I say 'my people' I am not talking about colour. I am talking about right/similar minded people with a thirst for knowledge and who know how to live well, with morals and values. They will enjoy travelling and reading. They want to grow as individuals by educating themselves continuiously. These people come in all shapes, sizes, colours and religions.

That I think is my simple idea of Paradise.

Easy enough isnt it?

The wedding.......

OK so I have to admit, I enjoyed the wedding and all of the surrounding BS much more than I thought! I do remember Princess Di and Charles getting married, and I also remember Wills being born, so I do feel quite old as I type!!  It was a nice feeling and it did raise my spirit slightly- although it did nothing for my bank balance! as the British media are seeming to suggest?!? The entire day went swimmingly and the bride and groom looked great....however, I am gonna keep it real. If my sister came to my wedding looking like Pippa Middleton ..... I would have to trip her up in the mud, beat her down- do something!! Lol

The Grammy's

I didnt get to see this live, as I need my beauty sleep, and this was on in the middle of the night. However when I awoke this morning, I did see the winners. I have a few issues with some of the winners it has to be said!!

Lets start at the beginning. Grammys were (as far as I am concerned) a way to single out the best people in the music industry. Those who stood out from the crowd- made a difference in music- the likes of MJ, Whitney, Lauren Hill and of course Bobby Brown.

Last night- I don’t feel that was the case. I don’t object to Beyonce winning 6 awards over all, you cannot turn on a radio without hearing her. Even Jay-Z, I am happy with that as I personally really liked his album.

Here's where it falls down for me- Eminem. Now there is a phrase some folks use here in the UK to describe 'disappointing rubbish' the phrase is 'pants'- and that’s exactly what the decision to give old ‘Emmas’  ANY award this year is. 

I am not too sure what the reception was like for his record in The US but in the UK he may have clocked up 20, maybe 30 sales. It seems ridiculous that he would win that category to me. I have long since abandoned gutter rap music- unless I am cleaning the oven where it makes me work harder-random I know. He was up against Common, Flo- Rida (how has he changed music?) Cannot even spell for my money!) ,  Mos Def  & Q-Tip. I have only heard bits of the other albums, and I am still fairly confident that Eminem’s was not the best.

DONT even get me started on the ‘Jackson kids’  accepting the lifetime achievement award on behalf of their Pop’s- I would need to start up a whole new blog to get all my feelings out about the Jackson thing!!

Have no idea who Taylor Swift is or what she sings and I am happy to remain ignorant on this one. I just know that she is the girl who got Kanye’ed at some awards ceremony last year.- Good enough for me.

Black Eyed Peas- mmmmmmmm. They have been everywherefor the past 2-3 years. Not sure whether or not I like them still- but I know the words to all their songs and my kids love them. I do know however that they continue to generate what my DH calls ‘catchy bull s*%t’. I suppose that the music has a good positive message, and there is not much of that these days (I am sounding old!)- which brings me right back to the Eminem thing!! ugggh
